Longridge Contracts specialise in products and ideas to help reduce the energy use of new and existing buildings. Using only proven products, materials and techniques, hundreds of high quality homes and other buildings with remarkable performance standards have been completed across the UK. Longridge Contracts are an approved Building Contractor for this type of construction.
One example is Super Insulated Masonry (SIM), which has been developed to provide a highly insulated external shell that improves the overall performance of a property. This consequently helps to meet the energy reduction requirement of the Code for Sustainable Homes, and changes in the new Part L of the Building Regulations.
Due to the extremely low lambda value of the masonry core, minimal wall thicknesses can be achieved and, as it is classed as insulation, problems associated with thermal bridging are overcome. The inherent thermal mass within SIM construction, in conjunction with Neopor external insulation, stores the latent heat in the winter and cool of the night time air in the summer to reduce the fluctuations in temperature associated with lightweight buildings. This action, known as Passive Energy Store, is performed passively by SIM construction and will not fail or degrade over time. Reduction in the seasonal temperature fluctuations reduces the energy required to heat and cool the building and subsequently its CO2 emissions.
